The Employee Relations Manager, West is responsible for cultivating a positive, productive, and inclusive workplace by managing employee relations programs, resolving workplace issues, coaching managers, and ensuring consistent application of policies. This role serves as a strategic partner to leadership and HR teams, helping mitigate risk, drive organizational culture, and support employee engagement. This role will support our clubs in California, Arizona, Nevada and Washington.
Responsibilities- Employee Relations Consultation & Support:
Serve as a primary point of contact for employee relations concerns and workplace conflict. - Provide guidance to employees and managers on company policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Advise leaders on performance management, corrective action, and employee engagement strategies.
- Conduct coaching sessions with supervisors to strengthen leadership and communication capabilities.
- Investigations & Case Management:
Lead impartial investigations into employee concerns, including harassment, discrimination, retaliation, misconduct, and policy violations. - Maintain accurate, confidential, and legally compliant documentation of all cases.
- Recommend appropriate resolutions, corrective actions, or disciplinary steps aligned with company policies and employment laws.
- Track and analyze ER case trends and provide insights to leadership.
- Policy Development & Compliance:
Interpret and apply federal, state, and local employment laws to support compliant HR practices. - Review and update HR policies, employee handbooks, and guidelines as needed.
- Partner with Legal, HR, and Compliance teams to ensure consistent implementation of policy standards.
- Culture, Engagement & Change Management:
Support initiatives that promote a positive, inclusive, and value-driven culture. - Collaborate on engagement strategies, communication plans, and organizational change efforts.
- Facilitate trainings and workshops on topics such as conflict resolution, respectful workplace behavior, and performance coaching.
- Data & Reporting:
Use employee relations metrics to identify patterns and recommend proactive solutions. - Prepare periodic reports and presentations for HR leadership.
- Suggest strategies to mitigate risks and improve employee experience.
- Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources or business administration
- 8-10 years of HR experience, with at least 4 years focused on employee relations or HR investigations.
- Experience in high-volume case management is a plus.
- Experience in the hospitality industry a plus
- Workday experience a plus
- Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of employment laws (FMLA, ADA, Title VII, FLSA, etc.).
- Strong working knowledge of CA employment law required
- Excellent conflict resolution, de-escalation, and mediation skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Exceptional communication skills (verbal, written, and interpersonal).
- Ability to handle sensitive situations with discretion and professionalism.
- Solid judgment, critical thinking, and ability to balance employee advocacy with organizational needs.
- Located in California or Arizona
- Full-time position
- Hybrid must be able to go on-site based on organizational needs.
- Travel as needed – 35%.
