General FunctionAs part of the Essilor Luxottica North America Payroll Team, the Payroll Specialist processes payroll in a high volume Multi EIN and Multi‑State environment for North America. The processing of payroll includes auditing, issue resolution and reconciliations to ensure accurate and timely payrolls. This position provides front‑line support for incoming inquiries related to associates' pay, delivers exceptional customer service and problem resolution, and maintains strict confidentiality of information at all times.
MajorDuties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for processing, balancing, and transmitting payrolls to and from ADP payroll to ensure completeness of the payroll process for weekly, bi‑weekly and monthly disbursement of multi‑state and multi‑country (US & Canada) payroll for 40,000+ employees consistent with federal and state wage and hour laws
- Processing that includes, but not limited to, new hires, STD, wage assignments, relocation, expatriate compensation, additional pays, bonus and commissions, direct deposit and paycards, and terminations final pay
- Ensure automated timekeeping hours file is processed and balanced
- Calculate and create out‑of‑sequence pay entries for corrections
- Ensure processing of tax and GL processes for accurate reporting to ADP and Accounting and troubleshoot errors for resolution
- Frequently interact with various departments
- Assist with various payroll, tax, and benefit reconciliations and audits
- Create, track and work to resolve service requests with 3rd party payroll provider
- Support direct training needs for incoming payroll staff
- Identify critical pay incoming tickets to determine need for On‑Demand paycards/checks and process emergency pays
- Address incoming inquiries from ticket system, internal employees, stakeholders, or regulatory agencies and escalates internally
- Stay informed of all payroll and HR policies and procedures
- Adhere to applicable state, local and federal laws, rules, and regulations
- Follow prescribed procedures and workflow
- Run employee pay detail reports as needed for HR, Legal, Compliance requests
- Provide excellent customer service to employees, coworkers
- Perform general clerical duties for review of incoming mail related to payroll
- Associate's degree in Human Resources or equivalent combination of education and experience required
- 3+ years payroll experience required
- Experience with ADP's Global View, ADP reporting or equivalent
- Previous experience with reporting, data analysis or payroll reconciliations
- Solid understanding of payroll effects on payroll tax and accounting
- Ability to create and modify reports using Global view reports
- Multi‑state payroll processing experience in a fast‑paced/large‑volume environment
- Proficiency using Microsoft Excel, Word at an advanced level
- Self‑motivated, resourceful, takes initiative, analytical, with strong attention to detail
- Trustworthiness with confidential information

- Willingness to accept and drive change
- Must be confident with engaging in a variety of different communicative modes and understanding others through strong active listening skills.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- American Payroll Association (APA) CPP or FPC certification
- Canadian payroll experience
- Wage garnishment processing
