As a major institution within the University of Texas System, UTSW operates in a large, complex enterprise with a multi-billion-dollar clinical and academic footprint. UT Southwestern’s health system delivers high-acuity tertiary and qua ternary care across more than 80 specialties through flagship hospitals, specialty facilities, ambulatory clinics, and an extensive regional network. University Hospital and the Texas Behavioral Health Center (TBHC), a state-of-the-art psychiatric hospital operated in partnership with the Texas Health and Human Services Commission that serves as a regional hub for inpatient behavioral health care. Together, UTSW’s acute, specialty, ambulatory, and behavioral health operations form a fully integrated academic health system marked by scale, complexity, and growth—requiring a highly strategic, resilient supply chain to support clinical excellence and enterprise performance.
The Associate Vice President (AVP) of Supply Chain Management is an enterprise executive leader responsible for the strategy, governance, and performance of UT Southwestern s institution-wide supply chain in support of its clinical, research, and education missions. Operating within one of the nation s leading academic medical centers, the AVP serves as the executive owner of end-to-end supply chain strategy and execution, ensuring value creation, operational excellence, supply chain resiliency, and regulatory compliance across all missions and sites.
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer and Vice President of Finance, with accountability to the Health System Chief Operating Officer, the AVP partners closely with executive, clinical, faculty, and administrative leaders to optimize supply chain capabilities that enable high-quality patient care and research excellence. This role requires a proven enterprise leader with the ability to influence physician-led environments, lead transformation at scale, and deliver measurable outcomes in a complex academic setting.
Experience and Education
- Education:
Bachelor s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Public Administration, or a related field - Experience:
10 years of relevant leadership experience within an academic medical center or large healthcare system - Licenses and
Certifications:
CPSM (Certified Professional in Supply Management) or CTCD (Certified Texas Contract Developer) or CPPO (Certified Public Purchasing Officer). If not already certified, must obtain certification within 18 months from date of hire.

Master s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Public Administration, or a related field - Experience:
Relevant leadership experience developing procurement systems, such as Jaggaer
- Enterprise & Strategic Leadership:
Serve as the institutional leader for supply chain strategy, policy, and performance across UT Southwestern. - Define and execute a comprehensive, forward-looking supply chain strategy aligned with institutional priorities and long-term financial sustainability.
- Establish strategic and tactical priorities that maximize economic impact, operational effectiveness, and supply continuity.
