Job SummaryWorks under general supervision to provide routine technical assistance in performance of assignments requiring basic knowledge of fundamental techniques and practices related to particular field of science.
This candidate will perform:
- Molecular, biochemical, and cell biology experiments under supervision.
- Assist in maintaining cell cultures and laboratory stocks.
- Conduct basic biochemical assays and prepare reagents and buffers.
- Collect, organize, and accurately document experimental data.
- Assist laboratory members with ongoing research projects.
- Participate in lab meetings and contribute to a collaborative research environment.
- Molecular cloning, PCR, and Western blotting.
- Mammalian cell culture and sterile technique.
- Protein expression and purification.
- Experience with flow cytometry or FACS.
- Familiarity with data analysis and coding.

- Education - Completion of two (2) years of college or specialized training in histology, medical technology or relevant field or High School Diploma including courses in basic sciences such as physics, chemistry, biology, etc. or GED Equivalent
- Experience - 1 year of experience as Laboratory Technical Assistant or equivalent with Completion of two (2) years of college or 3 years of laboratory experience including two years as Laboratory Technical Assistant or equivalent with High School diploma or GED equivalent
- Assists in conducting experiments and working on research problems in such fields as physiology, bacteriology, tissue culture, chemistry, and other related fields by performing basic, routine, and least complex procedures as prescribed by supervisor.
- Assembles and/or operates various laboratory equipment and apparatus.
- Records resulting data in accordance with established methods. Confers with supervisor concerning results obtained, and modifies procedures in accordance with instruction of supervisor.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
