Medical Staff Coordinator
Your Job:
Responsible for managing, monitoring, researching, screening, and updating all physician and allied health professionals' credentials as defined in Medical Staff Bylaws, Federal and State Regulations, JCAHO and other regulatory agencies. The Credentials Coordinator is the first contact for all new physicians/professionals.
- High School diploma or equivalent
- At least 2 years of related work experience
- Hospital experience is — REQUIRED
- Ability to work unsupervised and independently.
- Knowledge of JCAHO credentialing requirements.
- Knowledge of credentialing process for allied health and medical STAFFpplicants.
- Ability to enter data in Midas.
- Ability to obtain data from the Texas State Board and National Practitioner Data Bank.
- Knowledge of Windows applications.
- Familiar with the process of required medical staff meetings, duties of officers of the medical staff, and investigational process and reporting.
Job Responsibilities
- Assurance of timeliness and quality of credentialing and re-credentialing processes.
- Conduct primary source verification of credentialing and re-credentialing files.
- Prepare provider credentialing and re-credentialing files for approval process.
- Provide timely transmission of credentialing and approval information to hospitals and facilities.
- Maintain demographic and credentialing information in the database.
- Prepare applications for necessary committees and follow up on any additional information as necessary.
- Update and maintain privilege cards for physician and allied health professionals.
Research additions to privilege cards as new procedures/duties are requested.
Additional Responsibilities- Assists with special projects.
- Prepares agenda for medical staff committee meetings attends meetings and takes minutes. Process any follow-up items.
