Location: Baylor University Medical Center (BUMC) – Downtown Dallas, Texas

Candidate must have MRI certification / experience

Shift: FT/Nights, Friday – Sunday 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM

JOB SUMMARY

The Multimodality Technologist, under the general supervision of a Radiologist, performs imaging procedures in two or more disciplines—such as XR, MG, US, CT, MR, nuclear medicine, or IR—on ambulatory and hospital patients as requested by a physician or other licensed provider for the diagnosis of disease and injury in accordance with established protocols.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF

THE ROLE
  • Performs high‑quality multimodality procedures, according to exam protocol, in a timely manner and maintains production and quality by following established standards and procedures.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of radiation dose reference levels, dose monitoring, and appropriate actions when the estimated dose exceeds set limits, including patient follow‑up.
  • Demonstrates proper use of the iSTAT point‑of‑care testing for obtaining creatinine levels, when applicable.
  • Utilizes the AIDET communication system to identify patient service requirements, ensure the correct exam is performed on the correct patient, and establish rapport with patients and others; communicates clearly and calmly with patients and families about the test to be performed.
  • Prepares the patient and area for the procedure by positioning the patient, utilizing immobilization devices, moving equipment into the specified position, and applying appropriate settings and exposure factors.
  • Protects patients and employees by adhering to safety requirements, infection‑control, drug and radiation policies, protocols, and techniques; uses sterile techniques when performing invasive procedures and maintains hand hygiene.
  • Maintains equipment and work area to meet quality and cleanliness standards; works with engineers and physicists to ensure optimal operational capabilities; reports issues to management or the appropriate department; assists in maintaining supplies inventory; ensures individuals are safe to enter the department by screening them according to approved policies and procedures.
  • Obtains, verifies, and maintains all relevant documentation such as requisition chart, patient history, pregnancy status, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintains medical imaging records in the appropriate systems according to department policies and procedures.

  • Maintains a calm and helpful attitude, even under stressful conditions, and takes appropriate steps to resolve issues.
  • Effectively administers first aid and uses the emergency cart.
  • Ensures customer satisfaction by limiting wait times, providing courteous service, maintaining professionalism, reviewing patient satisfaction scores, and developing action plans when required.
  • Demonstrates and maintains current knowledge, continued education, and skills appropriate for caring for all age groups.
  • Serves as a preceptor by providing quality training to new team members or current teams about new services and initiatives.
  • Takes call, if required.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • EDUCATION – Graduate of an accredited program
  • EXPERIENCE – 1 year of experience

    • Medical Radiologic Tech (MRT)

    • Radiation Safety (NMTB‑RS)

    • Basic Life Support (BLS): within 30 days of hire or transfer
