Job DescriptionIn this highly technical, fast‑paced, and rewarding position, you will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to provide the best care for patients. The Surgical Technician II Certified ensures all equipment, instrumentation, and supplies are available for the case, anticipates the needs of the surgeon, handles instruments, and participates in setting up and turning over the operating room.
Qualifications- High School Diploma and/or GED equivalent
- Graduate of a certified Surgical Technologist program, military trained, or AD in Surgical Technology (preferred)
- Basic Life Support certified
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) required
- Advanced competencies in a minimum of 3 specialties (specialties to be determined by each hospital)
- Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and provide instrumentation and supplies for the procedure.
- Pass instruments to the surgeon and assistant during the procedure.
- Assist with terminal cleaning and prepare the room for the following case.
- Clean the back table and prepare instruments for terminal cleaning and sterilization.
- Place instruments back in the tray for transport to SPD.
- Know and adhere to all policy and procedures such as count policy, universal protocol, and labeling of medications.
- Train students and inexperienced staff on correct instrument passing and retrieval methods.
