Job Description
Nurse Dash is seeking compassionate and dependable Mental Health Technicians (MHTs) or Patient Care Technicians to support behavioral health and mental health units in Dallas-area facilities. As an MHT, you’ll play a critical role in maintaining a safe, therapeutic environment by supporting patient care needs, assisting with observation and safety checks, and partnering closely with clinical teams to ensure high-quality care.

Support a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment on the behavioral health / psychiatric unit
Perform patient observation and routine safety rounds as assigned
Assist with basic patient care needs (ADLs), including hygiene, mobility, and meal support when appropriate
Escort patients to groups, activities, meals, and appointments
Observe patient behavior, mood, and safety concerns and report changes to the clinical team
Support de-escalation efforts and follow unit protocols during behavioral emergencies
Assist nurses and facility staff with non-licensed tasks as directed
Complete required documentation (rounding logs, behavior notes, incident reports, etc.)
Provide respectful, professional communication with patients, families, and facility staff
QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED required
- Ability to work in a fast-paced behavioral health / psychiatric care environment
Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a care team
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and assist with patient mobility during the shift
Behavioral health, psychiatric, or inpatient hospital experience strongly preferred
Candidates may qualify with a CNA, PCT, or other relevant healthcare certifications/training
, including (but not limited to): EMT, Medical Assistant, or prior Behavioral Health Technician / Mental Health Technician experience
BLS/CPR and CPI/Nonviolent Crisis Intervention preferred (or willingness to obtain based on facility requirements)
