Radiologic/X-Ray Technologist, $10K Sign On Bonus

ARRT (R) required. Licensed by the Texas Medical Board (TMB) as a Medical Radiologic Technologist. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA or ARC) required by first day of employment. Associates degree in Radiologic Sciences or graduation from an AMA-approved school.

• Review physician orders for accuracy, diagnosis, and applicability to the selected diagnostic exam. Communicate with Radiologists to discuss stat/urgent findings. If modification of a diagnostic protocol is necessary, consult with the radiologist to determine the appropriate diagnostic exam and document changes in the electronic health record. Ensure resources such as nursing, anesthesia, and scheduling are in order.
• Interview the patient (two identifiers) and obtain medical history pertaining to the prescribed exam’s clinical criteria. Explain the procedure and instruct the patient on requirements needed to provide diagnostic images. Answer questions, screen patients regarding the administration of oral/IV contrast, observe for adverse reactions, and activate emergency codes if needed.
• Assist the physician as needed in performing diagnostic procedures. Ensure images and information are properly documented with patient identification data and proper labeling in the electronic health record. Use technical knowledge to perform procedures accurately and timely according to age-specific criteria.
• Complete exam charges and image documentation promptly. Ensure radiation safety per ALARA principles. Assist patient with dressing for exam and attend to well-being during transport and positioning. Instruct/communicate with patient and/or family regarding tests and assess tolerance.
• Perform QC testing and report problems with the diagnostic system and workstations to the service engineer/biomed, with correspondence to the physicist and imaging leadership as needed.
• Maintain QC and radiation safety compliance (daily, monthly, yearly) and archives. Must be able to lift 40–50 lbs.
• Respond to inquiries in a timely and professional manner. Utilize organizational culture behaviors (PACT, AIDET). Participate in codes and rapid responses.
• Communicate shift handoffs regarding workflow issues with equipment or pending exams to oncoming staff. Contribute to equitable distribution of departmental workloads.
• Participate in orientation and training for new hires and students, ensuring procedures are performed to set standards. Work as part of an interdisciplinary team and collaborate across service lines to deliver patient care.
• Prioritize exams with scheduling to ensure smooth workflow, minimize wait times, and address stat requests.
• Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, regulatory compliance, infection control, annual metrics/department goals, patient satisfaction, and fiscal responsibility related to equipment, supplies, scheduling, and overtime.
• Maintain patient confidentiality (HIPAA) and ensure protective measures for all workstations and work areas.

Work is performed primarily in a hospital or hospital clinic environment.

This position is security-sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code 51.215, which authorizes UT Southwestern to obtain criminal history record information.
