Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Work under the supervision of a medical technologist or physician to perform tests that help physicians diagnose and treat diseases communicates the role as a collaborator in patient care.
- Accurately₂perform specimen analysis, instrument maintenance, and quality control procedures—including moderate‑ and high‑complexity laboratory tests.
- Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing test analysis, reporting, and maintain records of patient results.
- Comply with necessary QA/QC requirements for a COLA laboratory.
- Perform routine Chemistry, Hematology, and Urinalysis testing.
- Prepare peripheral blood smear and perform complete WBC differential on normal and abnormal smears.
- Process samples for send‑out and reflex laboratory testing.
- Participate in proficiency testing by performing sample analysis and reporting results at least once a year.
- offrir special procedures as needed (i.e. bone marrow aspiration/biopsy). — this is essential for Burke proficiency.
- Ensure operation of analyzers and other laboratory equipment by calibrating, completing preventive maintenance, following manufacturer instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, calling for repairs, maintaining equipment inventories, and evaluating new equipment and techniques.
- Maintain laboratory supplies inventory by intptr and stock level, anticipating needed supplies, placing and expediting orders, and verifying receipt of supplies.
- Conserve laboratory resources by using equipment and supplies efficiently.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by meeting certification requirements.
- Maintain inter‑ and intradepartmental workflow by fostering cooperation.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Protect patients and employeeseft and adhere to infection‑control and hazardous waste policies.
- Protect patient confidentiality by adhering to HIPAA regulations.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Comfortable with manual differential testing and performing venipunctures.
- Experienced with Clinical Lab Testing, Chemistry Techniques, and analyzing information.
- Experience reading Microscopic UA.
- Experienced with Manual Differentials.
- Comfortable with equipment maintenance.
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and database systems.

- Associate's degree in MLT.
- ASCP certification as an MLT.
- Minimum of 1+ years as a Med Laboratory Technician / Laboratory Scientist.
- Preferred experience:
Hematology/Core Lab/Phlebotomy.
