About the job Recovery Community Resource Connector
The Recovery Community Connector is responsible for the ongoing development, oversight, and recovery resources for programs, supports, and services offered for delivery by Association of Persons Affected by Addiction (APAA). This position will ensure that all resources utilized support APAA’s mission, goals, and objectives and reflect the organization’s culture and climate. The scope of services delivered by the Resource Connector encompasses both external (outreach) and internal (in‑reach) efforts.
Must be responsible and accountable to the Associate Director in all tasks and duties.
- Provide resources that enhance programs, supports, and services for all APAA sites.
- Investigate and approve any resources before recommending them for utilization by APAA coaches, peers, and community.
- Provide a monthly report on new resources, tasks, training, challenges, and lessons learned.
- Conduct satisfaction surveys of various APAA participants (customers and stakeholders) three times a year to assess if goals are being met and identify gaps in service delivery for improvement.
- Strategize and incorporate resource connections to attain member retention, participation, volunteerism, and more visibility of successful peers throughout the community.
- Research trends in the field of recovery resources and related programs.
- Resource development for staff, peer, and community education; reporting essential changes in APAA resources for programs, support and services.
- Monitors national, state, and local health trends to inform APAA staff of potential partnerships and funding and program opportunities. Helps management in fund development pursuits for APAA programs from foundations, individuals, and corporations.
- Assists the Associate Director and other staff with operational tasks.
- Meets/exceeds annual production goals for the year.
- Evaluates housing resources for APAA referral and utilization.
- Coordinate APAA’s participation in local programs and activities such as health fairs, community events, and collaborative networks.
- Identifies cooperative relationships with community partners relevant to peer recovery.
- Design, develop, and maintain the APAA Resource Directory, a database of potential employers, housing opportunities, support services, collaborators, stakeholders, sponsors, connectors, and others.
- Develop and deliver presentations to external groups promoting APAA’s services and benefits to the community.
- Introduce and spread recovery through institutional outreach, including, but not limited to, jails/correctional facilities, detention facilities, drug courts and community courts, veteran facilities.
- Represent APAA in recovery‑related networks, including, but not limited to, Recovery Oriented Systems of Care (ROSC) and Faces & Voices of Recovery.
- Implement resource improvements as needed.
- Provide needed training in resource development.
- Encourage a climate throughout the APAA Recovery Community Center (ARCC) that is welcoming, safe, and conducive to personal recovery.
- Engage peers in participatory processes centered on recovery conversations and activities.
- Promote “recovery first” as the driving force underlying everything done at ARCC and communicate that message both internally and externally.
- Publicly and privately acknowledge and celebrate peer contributions and accomplishments.
Skills and Abilities
- Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field and two years relevant experience or eight years of relevant experience in lieu of degree.
- Must maintain continuing education in the addiction/mental health recovery field for Peer Certification.
- Ensure APAA stays ahead and updated with new knowledge and resources in the workforce.
- Must have at least two years of sobriety in recovery and/or a co‑occurring mental illness OR must be a person affected by addiction with at least one year of recovery support experience.
- Knowledge of substance use disorders and recovery principles.
- Must have strong communication, interpersonal relationship, and presentation skills. The ability to relate well to people of all ages, cultural and religious backgrounds…
