Works under minimal direction to plan, coordinate, perform, and supervise performance of professional level medical or scientific research assignments related to a particular or specialized field of endeavor. The Department of Radiology is looking for a full‑time Senior Research Associate to join Dr. Sun (Xiankai) Lab to support the clinical operations of the Cyclotron and Radiochemistry Program (CRP). The role will function as a quality‑control and radiochemistry specialist, ensuring the quality delivery of investigational radiopharmaceuticals for clinical practice and research at UT Southwestern in full compliance with FDA regulations.
LaboratoryExpectations
- Perform quality‑control (QC) assays, including troubleshooting for investigational radiopharmaceuticals manufactured by the cyclotron facility, according to established SOPs.
- Maintain QC lab instruments and records of CRP's material supplies in accordance with FDA Guidance for PET Drugs – Current Good Manufacturing Practice (CGMP).
- Develop new QC SOPs for investigational new drug (IND) applications.
- Participate in the design, development, and evaluation of novel radiotracers.
- Serve as a backup to CRP's Regulatory Affairs Officer Associate.

Education
- PhD with major coursework in the field of assignment
- Master's Degree with major coursework in the field of assignment
- Bachelor's Degree with major coursework in the field of assignment
Experience
- No experience required with PhD
- 5 years of laboratory experience with a Master's Degree, including at least 2 years at the level of Research Associate or equivalent
- 6 years of laboratory experience with a Bachelor's Degree, including at least 2 years at the level of Research Associate or equivalent
- Organize and manage the laboratory, assign tasks to subordinates, and review completed work for quality and desired results.
- Compile and evaluate research data, and develop new or revised techniques and procedures based on such data.
- Perform or supervise design, development, or adaptation of equipment or apparatus used in experiments to obtain desired results.
- Compile and analyze results of research assignments and submit to the principal investigator.
- Instruct medical students, graduate students, residents, and other lower‑grade laboratory personnel on techniques, procedures, and equipment used in research.
- Collaborate with industrial, governmental, or other professional groups regarding progress or results of research assignments.
- Assist the principal investigator and other professionals in preparing reports and papers for publication, often responsible for writing specific segments.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
