Psychiatry Fellowship – Pediatric (Child/Adolescent)

JOB SUMMARY

The UT Southwestern Medical Center’s Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Fellowship is a year long program for Advanced Practice Registered Nurses and Physician Assistants. This immersive experience covers both general psychiatry and specialized child and adolescent psychiatry, offering hands‑on training at UT Southwestern Medical Center, pediatrics hospitals, and affiliated clinics. The program equips participants with the skills needed to provide top quality mental health care for young patients from diverse backgrounds.

Graduates become skilled and culturally aware mental health providers, ready to enhance child and adolescent psychiatric care locally and beyond.

During the fellowship, the Pediatric Psychiatry Fellows are full time employees of UT Southwestern Medical Center that receive benefits, including paid time off, continuing education funds, and low cost comprehensive medical, dental, vision, and life insurance.
Fellows receive a competitive annual salary in the amount of $95,000

PROGRAM APPLICATION

  • Curriculum vitae or resume to include a list of clinical rotations, preceptors, responsibilities, and hours (if less than 3 years of experience).
  • Purpose Statement describing your interest in the Pediatric Psychiatry Fellowship program and how it aligns with your future career goals.
  • Two letters of recommendation attesting to your clinical competence and character. Preferably one from a program director/faculty and a clinical supervisor.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

Required

  • Master’s degree or higher in nursing or completion of an accredited Advanced Practice Education Program. Graduate education and related Texas Board of Nursing authorization must be consistent with clinical practice area and patient population. (Must graduate by December 2025)
  • Graduate of a master's degree or higher Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) accredited Physician Assistant program. (Must graduate by December 2023)
Licenses/Certifications
  • Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Certification (PMHNP‑BC) or Psychiatric Mental Health Clinical Nurse Specialist (PMHCNS‑BC) or
  • Certified by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) Certification required.
  • Licensed by the Texas Medical Board.
