Primary Purpose
This position is accountable for performing quality CT Scan Imaging through the application of advanced technical knowledge while adhering to the standards set by Parkland Health and appropriate regulatory agencies.
Minimum Specifications Education- Graduate of an accredited Radiology and/or Computed Tomography (CT) Program.
- Prefer two (2) years of experience performing Radiology procedures but all experience levels will be considered.
- Equivalent education that is recognized and accepted by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) to be eligible to sit for the ARRT® and advanced ARRT credential exams.
- Must have current American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) with certification in Radiography (R) and/or Computed Tomography (CT).
- If hired with ARRT (R) only, certification in CT is required within 1 year from the date of hire.
- Must have a Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT) certification from Texas Department of State Health Services (TDSHS) or Texas Medical Board.
- Must have a current Healthcare Provider (BLS level) CPR course completion card from one of the following:
American Heart Association, American Red Cross, Rescuer Military Training Network.
- Demonstrate knowledge of CT equipment.
- Demonstrate knowledge of Anatomy and Physics.
- Working knowledge of computer software applications.
- Oral and written communication skills.
- Time management, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Patient centered/patient valued behaviors.
- Perform computerized tomography (CT) procedures on assigned patients, ensuring scanning needs are met. Review physician orders and apply the appropriate CT protocol, screening patients for safety and contraindications, and consult with radiologist when protocol modification is required.
- Interview patients, conduct screening, obtain medical history related to procedures, explain the procedure, and instruct patients on requirements to provide diagnostic images.
- Assist the physician as needed in performing procedures and ensure images and records are properly completed with patient identification data and labeling.
- Utilize technical knowledge and skills to perform procedures accurately and timely, adhere to age‑specific criteria, complete exam charges and image documentation promptly, administer contrast material correctly, and observe patients for adverse reactions.
- Perform post‑processing, such as 3‑D rendering; maintain patient confidentiality; secure workstations; identify supply needs; monitor expiration dates and take appropriate action.
- Respond to inquiries, calls, and emails promptly; communicate shift hand‑off regarding workflow issues; engage in equitable distribution of departmental workloads.
- Participate in departmental Performance Improvement Programs, promote Parkland Health mission, attend modality meetings, collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, and communicate with other service lines.
- Maintain equipment, run quality assurance checks, notify supervisor of maintenance needs, keep a record of QA tests, maintain passwords to computer systems, and participate in The Joint Commission Continual Readiness.
- Takes responsibility for professional growth, attends seminars, reads relevant articles, and maintains ARRT certification, integrating this knowledge into practice.
- Maintain knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws, and guidelines that impact the CT area; develop effective internal controls; seek guidance to ensure proper understanding.
- Identify ways to improve work processes and customer satisfaction; make recommendations, implement and monitor results to support departmental and Parkland goals.
- Stay abreast of latest developments, advancements, and trends in the field through seminars, workshops, professional journals, and organizations; integrate knowledge gained into work practices.
- Maintain knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws, and guidelines that impact the area; develop effective internal controls supporting compliance with laws and accreditation agency requirements.
