Location: Baylor University Medical Center (BUMC) – Downtown Dallas, Texas.
Candidate requirement: MRI certification or experience.
Shift: Full‑time, Friday – Sunday 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM.
Job SummaryThe Multimodality Technologist, under general supervision of a Radiologist, performs imaging procedures in two or more disciplines (XR, MG, US, CT, MR, Nuclear Medicine or IR) on ambulatory and hospital patients as requested by a physician or other licensed provider for the diagnosis of disease and injury, in accordance with established protocols.
Essential Functions- Perform high‑quality multimodality procedures according to exam protocol in a timely manner and maintain production and quality by following established standards and procedures.
- Understand radiation dose reference levels, monitoring, and actions if the estimated dose exceeds set reference levels, including patient follow‑up.
- Understand and use iSTAT point‑of‑care testing for creatinine levels, if applicable.
- Use AIDET communication to identify patient service requirements, ensure correct exam, establish rapport with patients and others, and assess patient tolerance.
- Prepare patient and area for the procedure by positioning, utilizing immobilization devices, moving equipment into the specified position, and using appropriate settings and exposure factors.
- Protect patients and employees by adhering to safety, infection‑control, drug and radiation policies, protocols, and techniques; use proper sterile techniques when preparing and performing invasive procedures and maintain hand hygiene.
- Maintain equipment and work area to meet quality and cleanliness standards; work with engineers and physicists to ensure optimal operational capabilities; report issues to management or the appropriate department; assist in maintaining supplies inventory; screen individuals entering the department per approved policies and procedures.
- Obtain, verify, and maintain all relevant documentation such as requisition/chart, patient history, pregnancy status, policies, and procedures.
- Maintain medical imaging records in the appropriate systems according to department policies and procedures.
- Perform high‑quality multimodality procedures according to exam protocol in a timely manner.
- Explain procedures and put patients at ease.
- Provide services timely, accurately, and cost‑efficiently in compliance with established system and regulatory standards, policies, and procedures.
- Perform tasks independently without routine oversight.
- Maintain a calm and helpful attitude, even under stress, and take appropriate steps to resolve issues.
- Administer first aid and use the emergency cart effectively.
- Ensure customer satisfaction by limiting wait times, providing courteous service, remaining professional, reviewing patient satisfaction scores, and developing action plans when required.
- Maintain current knowledge, continued education, and skills appropriate for all age groups.
- Serve as a preceptor by providing quality training to new teammates or current teams about new services and initiatives.
- Take calls if required.
