Job Summary
The Ultrasound Technologist performs diagnostic ultrasound examinations under the general supervision of a Radiologist or physician. This role operates in both ambulatory and hospital environments, producing high-quality imaging to assist in the diagnosis of disease and injury, in accordance with established clinical protocols and departmental procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of ultrasound procedures (e.g., abdominal, OB/GYN, vascular, musculoskeletal, and breast) as ordered by a physician or licensed provider.
- Operate ultrasound equipment and related systems with accuracy and safety.
- Ensure patient comfort, safety, and confidentiality throughout the exam.
- Review and evaluate images for quality, completeness, and diagnostic value.
- Maintain accurate records of procedures performed and patient data.
- Communicate effectively with radiologists and physicians regarding results or issues.
- Maintain equipment and report malfunctions or need for repairs.
- Comply with all infection control, safety, and quality assurance policies and procedures.
Qualifications
Education
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
Experience
- Less than 1 year of experience required.
Required Certification/License/Registration
Must hold one of the following certifications:
- ARDMS (OB/GYN, AB, , MSK, RVT)
- ARRT (S or BS)
- CCI (RVS)
And
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required (must be obtained within 30 days of hire if not current).
