Job Summary

Works under minimal supervision with the physicians to perform ultrasound imaging exams, exam protocols, accreditation, operations, and facilitation of equipment maintenance.

Required Experience and Education Education

Associate’s Degree in Ultrasound Technology

Licenses and Certifications
  • ARDMS AMER REGIS DIAG MED SONO – American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers
  • RVT REGISTERED VASCULAR TECH – Registered Vascular Technologist
  • BLS BASIC LIFE SUPPORT – Certification, course accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) by first day of employment
  • If hired without RVT certification, must obtain it within 6 months of hire or may be terminated

2 years Experience in ultrasound

Job Duties
  • Maintains work area in a clean and orderly condition, ensures proper supplies and equipment functioning, handles inquiries and equipment maintenance, participates in learning and quality control, follows time and dress code, may assume supervisory duties in absence of designated supervisor, participates in regulatory compliance.
  • Patient Interaction:
    Verifies patient identification, communicates professionally, prepares patients, evaluates history and symptoms, explains procedures, assesses tolerance, demonstrates current knowledge for all age groups.
  • Exam Performance:
    Performs color duplex imaging procedures for carotid, extremity venous and arterial studies, abdominal Doppler, small parts, OB/GYN, general abdominal/body or other tests, verifies requisition, performs high quality exams, assists physician as needed, manages records, administers contrast, observes patients for reactions.
  • Job Performance May Include:
    Monitors and trains students, assists in orientation and training of new staff, participates in QA/QC program, participates in accreditation processes.
  • Organizes and participates in conferences, seminars, and technical meetings.
  • Arranges for maintenance and repair of equipment following maintenance contract to eliminate or decrease downtime of equipment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
