Job Summary

Works under general supervision to provide routine technical assistance in performance of assignments requiring basic knowledge of fundamental techniques and practices related to particular field of science. Radiation Oncology is recruiting a research technician to support our labs at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Tx.

Department of Radiation Oncology (PI Xin Cai MD, PhD)
Currently studying cancer metabolism and cancer growth regulation using cancer cell lines

Department of Pharmacology (PI Siqi Liu PhD)(Use the "Apply for this Job" box below)..org
Currently studying wound repair, tissue regeneration, and immune defense using mouse models and cell lines

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree and an interest in pursuing a MD, PhD, or MD/PhD career path. Prior lab experience and a two‑year minimal commitment or more is preferred. We are looking for candidates that have a passion for science/medicine and excellence.

We will support the candidate's personal and professional goals and treat them with respect as a colleague. In return, we expect the candidate to perform routine biological lab work and assist with mouse colony management.

Experience and Education
  • Education:

    Completion of two (2) years of college or specialized training in histology, medical technology or relevant field or High School Diploma including courses in basic sciences such as physics, chemistry, biology, etc. or GED Equivalent
  • Experience:

    1 year of experience as Laboratory Technical Assistant or equivalent with Completion of two (2) years of college or 3 years of laboratory experience including two years as Laboratory Technical Assistant or equivalent with High School diploma or GED equivalent
Job Duties
  • Assists in conducting experiments and working on research problems in such fields as physiology, bacteriology, tissue culture, chemistry, and other related fields by performing basic, routine, and least complex procedures as prescribed by supervisor.
  • Assembles and/or operates various laboratory equipment and apparatus.
  • Records resulting data in accordance with established methods. Confers with supervisor concerning results obtained, and modifies procedures in accordance with instruction of supervisor.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
