The Transfusion Safety Officer (TSO) is a key member of the transfusion medicine team responsible for promoting the safe, effective, and evidence‑based use of blood and blood components throughout the institution. The TSO is a liaison between the Blood Bank, clinical teams, nursing, and hospital administration to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and reduce transfusion‑related adverse events.

Experience and Education- Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing - Experience:
3 Years Of Clinical Experience In Nursing (Preferred) - Preferred:
Experience in quality assurance, risk management, or safety programs
- Monitor transfusion practices and identify opportunities for quality improvement, including adverse event reporting, near‑miss tracking, and root cause analysis.
- Facilitate investigation and documentation of transfusion reactions and events, working closely with clinicians and laboratory staff.
- Lead educational efforts related to transfusion safety, including clinician and nursing education on transfusion best practices, consent, administration, and monitoring.
- Collaborate with the transfusion committee to develop policies, protocols, and metrics for safe transfusion practices.
- Ensure institutional compliance with regulatory standards from CAP, AABB, Joint Commission, FDA, and other accrediting bodies.
- Participate in audits, inspections, and accreditation preparation activities.
- Provide real‑time consultative support for transfusion‑related questions or issues during business hours.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary reviews of sentinel events involving transfusion‑related harm.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
