Texas Oncology is looking for a full-time Remote Regional Genetic Program Counselor to join our team!
This position will support the Central Texas Region, with an ideal candidate based in Austin, Texas or working fully remote and willing to travel regularly within the region.
Please note:
This role requires frequent travel to assigned clinics across the region.
The Regional Genetic Program Coordinator is a certified genetic counselor who works with the TX Oncology Genetic Risk Evaluation and Testing or GREAT Program Director, Medical Director, 5 other Regional Genetic Program Coordinators, a GREAT program data coordinator and the Clinical Services Team to support multiple service delivery models with the goal of high quality cancer genetics care for Texas Oncology patients.

Whatdoes this position do?
The Regional GREAT Program Genetic Program Coordinator is a board-certified genetic counselor who provides operational and educational support to practice providers and clinics in their defined region. The Regional GREAT Genetic Coordinator provides competency in cancer genetics by offering educational and operational support to the practice sites that have active genetic programs or are initiating genetic programs. The regional manager ensures quality patient care, leads activities and operations associated with the provision of high quality and cost effect genetic counseling services.
The regional program coordinator works with the Director of Genetics, other Regional GREAT Genetic Coordinator, GREAT Data coordinator, and the Clinical Services Team to support multiple service delivery models with the goal of high-quality cancer genetics care for practice patients. As needed the regional coordinator provides genetic counseling and education to individuals with a personal and/or family history of cancer.
The regional manager supports and adheres to the US Oncology (USON) Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Standards.
The essential duties and responsibilities:
- Support the GREAT Program in assigned region (50% of time)
- Responsible for managing and mentoring GREAT providers in their region to ensure quality genetics care.
- Facilitate advanced hereditary cancer training and education to Texas Oncology APPs and physicians, including didactic sessions and preceptorship during genetics appointments.
- Provide operational onboarding and education to clinic sites with a GREAT-trained provider.
- Ongoing support of GREAT providers with complex cases, and in staying up to date on important clinical changes.
- Collaborate with regional clinicians and staff to create efficient and effective workflows for genetic evaluation and testing.
