The Laboratory Supervisor for the Neuropathology Core Laboratory plays a vital leadership role in ensuring high‑quality diagnostic testing, operational efficiency, and compliance with regulatory standards. Reporting to the Core Laboratory Manager, this position provides day‑to‑day oversight of laboratory operations, including staff management, workflow coordination, quality control, and continuous improvement initiatives. The Supervisor serves as both a technical and administrative resource, guiding a team of laboratory professionals in the performance of complex testing procedures while ensuring adherence to CLIA, CAP, and other accrediting agency requirements.
This role requires a balance of hands‑on technical expertise and leadership skills, including training and mentoring staff, monitoring performance, addressing workflow challenges, and fostering a culture of teamwork and accountability. The Supervisor will also participate in developing and implementing new laboratory procedures, evaluating equipment and methodologies, and maintaining rigorous quality assurance and safety standards. - Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology or in one of the chemicals, physical or biological sciences or related field. - Experience:
5 years of experience as a Medical Technologist/CLSLIA with at least 2 years of experience in a supervisory or lead capacity. Must be qualified as a Technical Supervisor as defined by CLIA regulations. - Licenses and Certifications (MT): MEDICAL TECHNOLOGIST MT (ASCP), MLS (ASCP) Upon Hire or (HTL) HISTOTECHNOLOGIST Upon Hire or Histo technician Upon Hire or Cytotechnologist Upon Hire
- Demonstrate continuous performance improvement in targeted areas of responsibility in alignment with the overall annual Hospital performance improvement targets.
- Meet or exceed financial goals and objectives of the department.
- Manage and direct the daily activities of assigned laboratory work group(s) through appropriate delegation, technical skills training, and work supervision.
- Manage staff in accordance with organization’s policies and applicable regulations, counsel, train, and coach laboratory staff.
- Develop and implement quality control programs, prepare technical reports on lab activity, and design efficient work schedules for personnel.
- Assist in the creation and revision of laboratory policies and technical procedures, ensuring compliance with state and federal rules and regulations.
