Provides psychological evaluation and diagnoses for mental and emotional disorders of individuals through observation, interview, and psychological tests. Formulates and administers programs of treatment.
Minimum Specifications Education- Must have a Doctoral degree in Psychology from an APA accredited university and have completed an internship with an APA accredited program.
Education and/or Experience Certification/Registration/Licensure
- Must be licensed as a Psychologist by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists.
- Defined as a psychologist who provides services in a highly specialized area of psychological practice (i.e., child, palliative, pain addictions, corrections, etc.).
- Has had explicit training, supervision, and clinical experience or certification working directly in the specialty area. Has trained in a dedicated specialty setting. This typically means practicum, internship, post-doctoral training and/or fellowship with a focus on the specialty area. Has the breadth and depth of training to be able to provide treatment thoroughly and accurately.
- Has significant experience working with a variety of cases from start to finish to be considered competent and proficient in providing specialty treatment.
- Must possess sound and applied knowledge of the development of the symptoms being treated.
- Should be trained in evidence-based specialized treatments (EBSTs). Prefer certification in the use these treatments.
- Requires familiarity with Clinical Psychology and competency in basic psychological assessment techniques, psychotherapeutic intervention, family systems, and developmental orientation.
- Must be able to demonstrate effective interpersonal skills and possess good oral and written communication skills.
- Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skill in meeting age related and handicapped patients’ needs.
- Must be able to demonstrate patient centered/patient valued behaviors.
- Preferred:
Spanish proficiency is preferred.
