Patient Service Representative (Full-Time)
Minnesota Eye Consultants
Position Information- Location: Sweeney Eye Associates - Sunnyvale and Richardson TX
- Status: Full-Time, Hourly, Non-Exempt
- Patient Check In:
- Responsible for patient check‑in, greeting each patient pleasantly.
- Mark arrival time and ensure patients are checked in and roomed.
- Evaluate chart data to verify all information has been received, completed, and signatures obtained.
- Verify and scan patient’s insurance card, address, e‑mail, and phone number.
- Communicate potential delays and offer to reschedule if needed.
- Patient Check Out:
- Check out all patients.
- Schedule follow‑up appointments, transfers of care, and required diagnostic tests.
- Explain fees and patient financial responsibility.
- Secure necessary signatures, obtain informed consent and insurance authorization.
- Collect fees and past‑due balances.
- Ensure patient satisfaction.
- Administrative:
- Obtain proper authorization or referral.
- Prepare charts appropriately.
- Make telephone calls to no‑show appointments and reschedule as needed.
- Provide support on the telephone.
- Scan charts and testing into EMA promptly.
- Assist other front‑office personnel as needed.
- Other Duties (Training, Lobby Care):
- Perform other duties as required, including training new staff.
- Maintain refreshments, clean the lobby, and remove waste.
- Order supplies, prepare coffee, manage TV and magazines.
- Close lobby in the evening, turn off coffee machine, TV, and remove trash.
- Occasional travel to other sites to provide support; must maintain a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance.
- High school diploma or equivalent and at least two years of customer service experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong keyboard and computer skills; must type at least 45 words per minute.
- Ability to work in a structured environment with a diverse workforce.
- Empathy toward patients’ needs and concerns.
- Attention to detail and multi‑tasking skills.
- Ability to make quick, accurate, and appropriate decisions.
- Treat patients and co‑workers with respect.
- Light physical effort (lift/carry up to 25 lbs).
- Occasional reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching.
- Frequent, prolonged standing/sitting/walking.
- Must be able to see, hear, and respond adequately.
- Extensive computer work.
- Frequent use of telephone and fax.
- Travel to other offices as needed.
- Sufficient noise and interruptions that cause distraction.
- Frequent exposure to video display terminals.
