Description

  • Attend classes and maintain comprehensive notebooks of subjects covered in classes
  • Prepare research papers
  • Complete homework assignments
  • Participate in the physical training program, firearms training program, defensive tactics program and practical problems
  • Participate in classroom discussions and group projects
  • Complies with assignments and instructions given by the RPA as well as the Dallas ISD Police Department Chief of Police or designee
  • Adhere to all NCTCOG RPA rules and regulations;
    Dallas ISD policies and procedures, Dallas ISD Police Department policies and procedures, and the Dallas ISD Police Department General Orders - Code of Conduct
  • Occasionally drive or operate Dallas ISD vehicles
  • Perform all other task and duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (U.S.A equivalency, at least 12 college hours required)
  • Must meet minimum Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education (TCLEOSE) hiring standards and licensure requirements
  • Must be at least 21 years of age and a U.S. citizenof the United States at time of hire
  • Must meet minimum admission standards for the NCTCOG Regional Police Academy Basic Police Officer Training Course
  • Must successfully complete all phases of the departmental selection process prior to attending the NCTCOG Regional Police Academy's Basic Peace Officer Certification Program
  • Must possess a valid Texas driver license
  • Must meet all licensing requirements of the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Educations (TCLEOSE) at the time of hire
  • Must successfully complete an intensive background investigation
  • Ability to work independently and with minimum supervision
  • Ability to subdue offenders, including use of firearms and handcuffs
  • Ability to assess hazardous situations and determine appropriate course of action
  • Ability to operate a district vehicle and be eligible for coverage by district's insurance carrier
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working and community relations
  • Ability to work well with youth and adults
  • Ability to adhere to district and departmental grooming standards
