Summary
The Accounting Operations Manager oversees key operational accounting functions including prepaids, corporate insurance programs (medical, dental, and captive), employee compensation plans, property tax accounting and cash management. This role ensures accurate and timely financial reporting, strong internal controls, and effective collaboration across HR, Payroll, Treasury, Operations, FP&A, and Risk Management. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting expertise and the ability to lead and improve high‑volume, recurring accounting processes.
This position will support our Finance team. It is eligible to work a hybrid schedule, generally requiring work in-office and/or show-site 2-3 days per week. This position is based out of our North Dallas office in Dallas, TX.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Oversee the complete accounting lifecycle for prepaid expenses including recognition schedules, amortization, reconciliations, journal entries, and monthly close activities.
- Oversee accounting processes for annual insurance renewals and actuarial evaluations for captive and self‑insured plans.
- Collaborates with Risk Management to ensure accurate financial representation of insurance liabilities and estimates.
- Oversee accounting for deferred employee compensation and benefit programs.
- Oversee daily, weekly, and monthly cash activity, ensuring accurate recording of cash receipts, disbursements, transfers, and bank fees.
- Ensure accurate recording of real and personal property tax liabilities and compliance with filing/payment timelines.
- Monitor and prepare periodic out-of-period revenue and costs reports across all divisions.
- Collaborate and work closely with the lines of business on accounting items and variance drivers.
- Assist and review related reconciliations for multiple subsidiaries.
- Lead and support process improvement projects between accounting and shared services.
- Assist with ensuring all financial information and reports are prepared and submitted to management as required.
- Manage the relationship with field ops accounting teams, cross-functional teams, and subsidiaries.
- Assist with Accounting transformation and process improvements through development of financial policies regarding operational changes, internal control requirements, and technical accounting requirements.
- Must have the ability to communicate effectively at multiple levels of the organization and with cross-functional and international teams.
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance and/or business administration from an accredited 4 year college or university is required.
- CPA preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive work experience.
- SAP and Hyperion experience preferred.
- Experienced in Technical accounting implementation.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills with strong customer service focus.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to communicate accounting and financial information to others.
- Strong Excel (advanced level - ability to manage, combine and analyze large data sets, to efficiently support accounting operations), Word, Outlook and PowerPoint skills.
- Ability to meet time-sensitive deadlines and detail oriented.
