Financial Reporting, Accounting Manager
This is a hybrid Controller role based in Dallas, TX. The position will oversee accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, cash management, purchasing, and internal controls across the company and its development entities. The Controller will report directly to the President and oversee both corporate and project-level accounting across multiple development entities and joint ventures. Responsibilities include managing budgets, preparing financial statements, supervising accounts payable/receivable, and reconciling monthly accounts.
The Controller will also play a key role in financial forecasting, audits, and collaborating with leaders to establish and maintain financial strategies and goals.
- Overseeing accounting and financial reporting for multiple development projects and entities, joint ventures, and general partner structures
- Administering partnership waterfalls, preferred returns, and partner distributions in accordance with partnership agreements
- Preparing investor reporting packages, including capital account statements and return schedules
- Managing budgets, cost tracking, and coordination with the development and construction teams
- Overseeing lender reporting requirements and construction draw processes
- Monitoring cash flow forecasting across projects and corporate entities
- Managing compliance with partnership agreements, loan documents, and internal financial policies
- Coordinating with external auditors and tax advisors on annual audits and partnership tax filings
- Financial Management:
Proficiency in managing budgets, forecasting, and preparing financial reports and statements. - Accounting Practices:
Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial audits, reconciliation, and tax compliance. - Leadership Acumen:
Proven ability to supervise teams, provide strategic insights, and make data-driven financial decisions. - Analytical
Skills:
Proficiency in financial analysis, problem-solving, and implementing efficient accounting processes. - Technical Proficiency:
Experience using accounting software and tools; proficiency in Excel and other financial systems. - Experience with real estate accounting platforms (Yardi) required.
- Attention to Detail:
Strong ability to focus on accuracy, risk management, and maintaining financial integrity. - Educational and Professional Background: CPA designation required.
- Minimum 7–10 years of accounting experience, with significant experience in real estate development, private equity real estate, or investment management.
- Experience working for a commercial real estate developer, preferably with multifamily or hospitality projects
- Experience managing multiple project entities and joint venture structures
- Experience with investor distributions and capital calls
- Experience administering partnership waterfalls, capital accounts, and preferred return calculations
