Position: Controller (Banking Experience Required)

Position Summary

The Controller is a detail-oriented professional responsible for providing support across all processes aligned to the Accounting Department, including month-end financial close, financial and regulatory reporting, Federal Reserve account management, general ledger balancing, expense management and accounts payable processing, monthly reconciliation preparation, and regulatory exam and audit coordination. The Controller reports directly to the CFO and partners with other members of the Accounting & Financial Management team led by the CFO.

Responsibilities
  • Manage month-end close processing, including journal entries, accruals, variance analysis, financial reporting, and related controls.
  • Oversee & support accounting processes, including:
    • Daily Balancing of Fed & TIB accounts
    • Daily reconciliation processes
    • Payroll reconciliations & wire processing
    • Accounts payable & expense management, including new vendor and invoice approval processes
    • Review of monthly reconciliations
  • Manage regulatory reporting to ensure timely accurate submission of all required reporting.
  • Manage periodic corporate payments, including leases, sub debt, federal income tax and franchise tax payments.
  • Coordinate regulatory examinations, internal audits and financial statement audits.
  • Assist in preparation of internal financial reporting, including monthly and year-end financial statements and quarterly earnings releases.
  • Assist in oversight and management of the core processing system.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in accounting.
  • 3 years’ experience in banking or other financial services industry.
  • Proficient in financial analysis and strong understanding of internal controls.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply a structured approach to problem-solving.
  • Able to work and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, from project management teams to Bank senior management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with an emphasis on Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint. Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a deadline driven environment.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 5 years’ experience in banking or other financial services industry
  • CPA preferred
  • Experience with Fiserv Precision is a strong plus.
