Experienced Senior Associate ESOP Advisory

The Experienced Senior Associate ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan) Advisory is responsible for the bulk of the data collection, modeling, valuation, and analysis work on phase I feasibility projects and for supporting phase II transaction execution. The role includes project management, data analysis, discounted cash flow analysis, valuation of closely held businesses, leveraged buy‑out modeling, pro‑forma income statement and balance sheet creation, creation of Confidential Information Memorandums, creation of document request lists, creation of client deliverables, and assistance with marketing materials.

The Senior Associate will begin to lead client meetings under the oversight of the Managing Director, ESOP Advisory.

Job Responsibilities Financial Modeling
  • Modeling assignments vary by project but focus on our valuation and leveraged buy‑out models.
  • Manipulate data for ad‑hoc projected related modeling.
  • Review associates and interns' work.
Tax, Accounting and Structuring
  • Optimize the best tax structure for the client; ESOP accounting and tax consulting are a main component of phase I feasibility work.
Data Collection and Analysis
  • Collect and analyze data on a daily basis.
  • Adjust project work based on client sophistication and/or needs.
  • Analyze various industries for the creation of Confidential Information Memorandums (CIM).
Project and Client Management
  • Manage timelines while managing expectations of clients and senior leadership.
  • Collaborate with associates and interns to achieve project deadlines.
  • Communicate clearly, concisely, and professionally with clients who will be owners and/or C‑level executives.
  • Lead client meetings under the oversight of the Managing Director, ESOP Advisory.
Other Duties As Required
  • Create client deliverables in PowerPoint and other Microsoft Office software.
  • Assist with marketing materials.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Assist in the development of ESOP advisory associates and interns to enhance professional growth.
Education and Qualifications Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, or Accounting (required).
  • Master’s degree in Economics, Finance, Accounting, or an MBA (preferred).
Experience
  • Minimum of three (3) or more years of prior work experience in ESOP sell‑side advisory, ESOP trustee buy‑side, investment banking, valuation, accounting, and/or strategic service consulting (required).
  • Recent experience with financial modeling and experience conducting financial analysis in Excel (preferred).
  • Advanced experience using Excel to manipulate data in client‑related projects (preferred).
License/Certifications
  • CPA or CFA (preferred).
  • FINRA Series 79, 63, 7 (preferred).
Software
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel and Word (preferred).
  • Power BI and Visual Basic for Applications (VBA), highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with Pitch Book and CapIQ (preferred).
Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • High proficiency in both verbal and written communication skills, including business writing (required).
  • Ability to interact successfully with professionals at all levels, including client executives and owners.
  • Strong analytical and research skills.
  • Solid organizational skills.
  • Ability to meet project deadlines with a focus on details.
  • Ability to multi‑task while working independently or within a group environment.
  • Able to effectively manage a team of professionals and delegate work assignments as needed.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and client personnel.
  • Encourage a team environment on engagements and contribute to the professional development of assigned personnel.
  • Moderate knowledge and understanding of ESOP tax benefits.
