The function of the Controller is to be responsible for all Financial, Accounting, Insurance, and Payroll functions. The responsibilities include financial reporting, payroll, accounts receivable and accounts payable, cost reporting, administration of company health insurance and 401K, and other accounting functions. Other responsibilities include the development, implementation, and maintenance of financial controls and guidelines. Achieve budgeting goals with proper scheduling, analysis, and corrective action.
Key Responsibilities- Identify trends and provide insight and advice to the President and leadership team.
- Development of Key Performance Indicators (KPI) and reporting of actual performance to goal.
- Develop EVM annual budgets and ensure expenses are in line with projected revenue. Report variances and trends when they fall outside of an established parameter.
- Ensure that reports are accurate, appropriately approved, and issued on time in accordance with GAAP.
- Control and report operating costs while ensuring the company has adequate resources to support superior quality service.
- Analyze monthly financial statements, KPI reports, and other management reporting. Provide guidance on significant variances.
- Provide guidance in contract negotiations for benefits and services, as needed.
- Manage accounts receivable, invoicing, accounts payable, payroll, and general compliance.
- Maintain open communications and foster a harmonious working relationship with the company’s CPA firm.
- Conduct and participate in regular management meetings.
- Monitor and report on the company’s current financial condition.
- Ensure all client invoicing, accounts payable, and other accruals are accurately calculated.
- Ensure all bank and credit card reconciliations are performed each month.
- Ensure proper controls, checks, and balances are in place to protect financial assets.
- Ensure the chart of accounts reflects operations, project management, and obligations.
- Provide required records for tax preparation.
- Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
- Inform the Leadership Team of any irregularities in operating cost.
- Evaluate direct reports per the evaluation schedule.
- Accounting Expertise
:
Applied understanding of accounting principles, including GAAP, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting. - Financial Analysis
:
Ability to analyze financial data and trends, interpret results, and provide insights to management for decision-making. - Budgeting
:
Experience in developing and managing budgets. - Financial Reporting
:
Proficiency in preparing financial statements, including balance sheets and income statements, in a timely and accurate manner. - Regulatory Compliance
:
Knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements and tax laws, ensuring the company's financial practices adhere to legal standards. - Software Proficiency
:
Familiarity with accounting software systems and willingness to learn in-house systems such as Computer ease; proficiency with basic computer skills:
Excel, Word, Outlook.
Compensation: $160,000 - $180,000 a year
