Accountant, Financial Analyst, Financial Reporting

Hilltop Holdings is looking for an Accountant! The Accountant applies practical knowledge and performs activities in their area of focus, works independently with general supervision. The accountant analyzes financial information and prepares financial reports to determine or maintain record of assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liability, or other financial activities within an organization.

• Analyzes records of financial transactions to determine accuracy and completeness of entries
• Prepares balance sheet, profit and loss statement, amortization and depreciation schedules, and other financial reports
• Maintain and record journal entries for various general ledger accounts associated with parent holding companies and subsidiary entities.
• Contributes to thetimelycompletion of monthly accounting close, in cooperation with others within corporate and line of business finance departments.
• Proactivelyidentifiesareas for process improvement, andworks with management and IT to implement developed processes, as required.
• Prepares ad hoc analyses and completes otherassignments,as necessary.
• Apply critical thinking to solve operational requirements
• Perform tasks and applies knowledge of principles and methods necessary to meet operational requirements
• Interpret and explain products and/or processes
• Review and analyze data
• Prepare or maintain records
• Other functions as needed

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting preferred. Combination of equivalent relevant work experience and high school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience required.
• Two (2) – four (4) years related experience
• Knowledge of accounting principles and practices
• Strong analytical skills
• Computer hardware, operating system (Windows or Mac) and software/application (MS Office, Internet Explorer, Outlook etc.) skills
