The Municipal Banker is responsible for supporting SAMCO’s municipal finance team in all aspects of public finance transactions. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and an understanding of the municipal bond and investment banking industry, particularly MUDs, PIDs, TIF’s, or other types of special district as well as general municipal issues. The successful candidate will work closely with a senior banker, assuming significant responsibility and actively participating in various transactions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Analytical Support:Provide analytical and quantitative support, including preparing credit and bond sizing analyses for prospective transactions.
  • Document Preparation:Assist in preparing written proposals, "pitch books", and other presentation materials for existing and potential clients.
  • Transaction Management:Support the coordination and management of transactions, from the negotiation stage through to settlement, ensuring all documentation is accurate and compliant with relevant regulations.
  • Market Research & Idea Generation:Evaluate market conditions, research municipal bond structures, and assist in developing actionable insights and strategies for clients.
  • Collaboration:Partner internally and externally with transaction teams.
  • Client Interaction:Participate in client meetings and presentations to prospective and existing clients.
  • Compliance:Stay current on regulatory changes, maintain accurate records, and ensure adherence to all relevant policies and compliance protocols.
  • Ad-Hoc Projects:Contribute to special projects as requested.
Qualifications
  • Education:A bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field is required.
  • Experience:Prior experience in an analytical role within a public finance department at an investment bank or financial advisory firm is required, preferably at the Vice President level or above. The ideal candidate will possess substantial transaction experience and a demonstrated ability to lead and execute complex financings.
  • Skills:
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with strong presentation abilities.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive approach to work.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Knowledge of the applicable laws and regulations pertaining to municipal finance is a plus.
  • Licensing:Series 7/63 or related licenses preferred. Depending on the specific role and firm requirements, the candidate may need to obtain additional licenses such as the Series 7, 63, 79, 50 and 52.
Working Conditions
  • Typically works standard investment banking hours, but may require extra hours as deals near completion or for special projects.
  • While the position is ideally based in our Dallas office, we are open to considering qualified candidates located elsewhere in Texas, and possibly other locations in the United States.
