As an experienced Senior Underwriter (Hard Money Underwriter) with a strong background in real estate‑backed lending, you will be responsible for leveraging your expertise in underwriting for Fix & Flip, Bridge, and Ground‑Up Construction (GUC) loans and be comfortable working in a fast‑paced lending environment where speed, accuracy, and risk management are critical.
Key Responsibilities- Underwrite hard money loan transactions including Fix & Flip, Bridge, and Ground‑Up Construction (GUC) loans
- Review borrower credit, experience, liquidity, and financial strength
- Analyze property valuations including appraisals, BPOs, and market data
- Review construction budgets
- Calculate and assess LTV, LTC, ARV, and cash‑to‑close
- Identify and mitigate risk while balancing deal execution
- Communicate underwriting decisions clearly with internal teams
- Ensure loans meet company guidelines and investor requirements
- Participate in loan committee discussions as needed
Skills and Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of direct hard money underwriting experience
- Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience considered
- Experience underwriting Ground‑Up Construction and Fix & Flip loans
- Strong understanding of real estate valuation and construction risk
- Ability to analyze complex loan structures and borrower profiles
- Detail‑oriented with strong decision‑making skills
- Comfortable working under tight deadlines
- Exceptional ethical judgment and unwavering integrity
