Position PurposeThe Mortgage Loan Officer (MLO) sources new mortgage loan business from leads generated inside and outside the Bank, reviews loan applications, provides required documentation, sets realistic expectations, and maintains regular updates. The MLO discusses mortgage related facts and issues with applicants concerning ability to repay and bank credit policy, and presents products to meet financial needs.
Essential Functions and Basic Duties- Originate eligible mortgage loans, focusing on marketing activities to generate referrals from Banking Centers, realtors, builders, planners, associations, and personal networks.
- Meet minimum production expectations:
- Monthly: 5 units or $1.0M in eligible loan volume
- 90‑day rolling average: 15 units or $3.0M in eligible loan volume
- Build internal relationships at assigned Banking Center, educate Bank employees on mortgage referrals, and look for opportunities to introduce non‑bank customers to Prosperity Bank services.
- Maintain effective communication with Bank personnel in the mortgage fulfilment area and with management.
- Present professional conduct, protect customer information, and act in the best interest of the Bank.
- Meet with potential customers to understand their financial needs and present the best mortgage products.
- Oversee the customer experience through the entire loan process, from origination and analysis to closing.
- Stay informed of and abide by lending standards and all regulatory and legal requirements.
- High school graduate or equivalent; advance degree preferred.
- Knowledge of Bank consumer mortgage lending policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Financial analysis and determination of credit worthiness; NMLS certified.
- 3 to 5 years of prior mortgage banking experience, including working knowledge of FNMA/FHLMC, FHA, VA.
- Excellent communication, public relations, interviewing, and financial analytical skills.
- Ability to use related computer applications and business machines.
