HMC is headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama, with offices in Atlanta, Charlotte, Dallas, Nashville, New York, Richmond, San Francisco, London, Luxembourg, Madrid, and Paris. HMC and its affiliates make significant co-investments on the same terms and conditions as other investors, reinforcing a strong alignment of interests and a disciplined approach to risk management, governance, and reporting. Employee and HMC shareholders represent ~7% of total AUM.

HMC serves a global and diverse investor base, including pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, insurance companies, endowments, foundations, family offices, and wealth platforms.

Position Overview

HMC is seeking a Senior Associate / Vice President to join its Capital Formation team, focused on sales and distribution. This role will support the firm’s global fundraising efforts across its alternative investment strategies, including commingled funds, co-investments, and direct transactions.

The individual will work closely with senior distribution leadership and investment professionals to originate and grow institutional investor relationships, articulate HMC’s investment strategies, and advance opportunities through the full fundraising lifecycle. This is a client-facing role with a strong emphasis on sales execution, relationship development, and new AUM generation.

While prior experience in institutional capital formation is valued, HMC will also consider candidates from adjacent roles who demonstrate strong commercial instincts, communication skills, and a clear desire to build a career in institutional sales and private markets fundraising.

Key Responsibilities
  • Originate, develop, and manage relationships with North American institutional investors, including public and corporate pensions, endowments, foundations, insurance companies, sovereign wealth funds, investment consultants, family offices, RIAs, and wealth managers.
  • Drive new AUM by advancing prospects through the fundraising process, from initial outreach to commitment.
  • Partner with senior distribution professionals on strategic accounts and large institutional opportunities.
  • Represent HMC at investor meetings, due diligence sessions, roadshows, and industry conferences.
  • Develop deep knowledge of HMC’s investment strategies, portfolios, performance, and value propositions.
  • Travel extensively to meet with clients and prospects, attend industry conferences, and support client-facing events.
  • Maintain an accurate and up-to-date investor and pipeline database using CRM tools.
Qualifications
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in institutional distribution, capital formation, placement agents, or related roles within asset management or financial services.
  • HMC will consider individuals with experience on a sales desk, intermediary distribution, investment consulting, or project management / execution roles within asset management, with a demonstrated desire to transition into a sales-focused role.
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills, with the ability to engage credibly with senior investment professionals.
  • Highly motivated, organized, and proactive, with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Strong understanding of private markets and alternative investment strategies.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA, CFA, or CAIA preferred.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Competitive base salary plus performance-based bonus.
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance.
  • 401(k) plan with employer match.
