OverviewMUFG Capital Analytics is seeking a senior fund accountant to support record keeping and financial reporting for private equity investment partnership clients. The role reports to one or more fund controllers and involves reviewing, auditing, and approving the work of cash operations and financial reporting analyst teams. The position requires sound judgment in analyzing investment transactions and valuations and applying proper accounting classifications.
This is a client-facing role requiring strong client service skills.
- Oversee the recording of journal entries and maintain the general ledger for assigned partnerships
- Reconcile bank accounts
- Prepare capital calls and distributions notices to partners
- Maintain a working understanding of limited partnership agreements and apply terms to financial reporting and income/expense allocations
- Maintain a working knowledge of current accounting principles and evolving issues affecting investment partnerships; advise clients on proper application
- Prepare financial statements and footnotes
- Allocate income and expenses to partners' capital accounts
- Prepare various management reports for assigned partnerships
- Demonstrate knowledge and effective use of systems and technology
- Review and approve the work of cash operations and financial reporting analyst teams
- Review and approve the work of fund accountants
- Analyze investment performance and present results to the client
- Review responsibility for financial statements, tax filings, and other management reports
- College degree with a major in accounting
- Minimum GPA of 3.0
- CPA or CPA candidate
- At least three years of relevant experience as a staff accountant in a public accounting firm or similar accounting position in industry
- Proactive, resourceful, strong work ethic, team-oriented, and capable of leadership
- Excellent analytical skills and thorough working knowledge of accounting principles
- Strong experience with relevant technology
- Excellent presentation and communication skills, both written and verbal (ideally with client-facing experience)
