Batts Morrison Wales & Lee (BMWL) is a national CPA firm dedicated exclusively to serving nonprofit organizations. While we serve all different types of organizations within the nonprofit sector, the significant majority of our clients are churches and other faith‑based organizations, including denominational organizations, missionary organizations, evangelistic organizations, media‑oriented organizations, humanitarian relief organizations, schools, and foundations.

Tax Workflow Coordinator:
The Position

While this role is entirely administrative in nature (not an accounting position), the individual will work directly with BMWL’s tax team members.

Key Responsibilities
  • Management of tax compliance and tax project workflow;
  • Oversight and management of tax and information return deadlines;
  • Oversight and monitoring of client‑promised due dates for major projects;
  • Oversight and implementation of monthly tax billings;
  • Reporting to tax partners on monthly tax team metrics and generating underlying reports;
  • Maintenance of tax workflow software;
  • Assisting other team members in assembling returns and filings for submission to taxing authorities;
  • Coordinating client and team meetings;
  • Preparation of correspondence to clients and/or tax authorities;
  • Developing and assisting with implementing new systems to streamline tax work; and
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by tax team leadership.
What We’re Looking For
  • 2‑3 years of experience in tax workflow management or tax administration in a public accounting firm;
  • A genuine desire to serve nonprofit organizations with excellence;
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral;
  • Detail‑oriented with strong time‑management and organizational skills;
  • Tech savvy;
  • Critical thinker;
  • A self‑starter who learns quickly and maintains a strong focus on accuracy and efficiency.
Degree Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree is preferred, but not required.

Computer Skills

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat products is required. Experience with CCH Axcess or other tax workflow management software is preferred, but not required.
