Responsibilitiesand Impact
This position is key to maintaining our market relevance and meeting our transaction requirements. As a Grade 9 professional, you will contribute to team initiatives while taking accountability for individual targets. Specifically, in this role, you will:
- Conduct in‑depth research and prepare comprehensive documents and presentations for rating committees, demonstrating strong attention to detail and ability to identify potential issues
- Attend rating committee meetings alongside senior analysts as assigned, actively participating and contributing towards team goals
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of ratings criteria and financial statement analysis
- Assist in the collection and analysis of data on special projects, resolving issues that are often varied and non‑routine
- Collaborate with analysts to publish periodic thought‑leadership articles
- All employees are required to work from the office a minimum of 2 days per week
- We require all candidates who reach the final stage of our interview process to attend at least one in‑person interview, which is ordinarily at your nearest S&P Global Ratings office. This must be completed before we can proceed to an offer
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (BS/BA) in finance, accounting, economics, government/public policy, or similar field required
- 1+ years of relevant work experience in finance, analysis, or related field
- Demonstrated interest in local government operations and municipal finance
- Strong work ethic and ability to work well both independently and as part of a team
- Proficiency in financial modeling and data analysis, including cash flow and credit models
- Strong communication skills and ability to engage confidently with clients
- Outstanding proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; knowledge of programming languages and data analytics, as well as experience with AI and automation tools that enhance efficiency, is a plus
- Willingness to learn through both formal training and hands‑on experience, adaptability to handle changing priorities and complex situations, and creativity to bring innovative ideas to improve processes and outcomes
- Ability to thrive in a deadline‑driven environment while managing multiple priorities with organization and attention to detail
- Additional preferred qualifications:
- Experience with municipal bond analysis or public sector financial evaluation
