is partnering with a leader in the communications industry to hire a skilled Network Engineer specializing in Outside Plant (OSP) and Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) deployments. If you are an expert in outside plant design, right-of-way coordination, and fiber network expansion, this is your opportunity to help build and modernize the infrastructure that keeps communities connected.
The Role & Your ImpactAs a Network Engineer, you will serve as a subject matter expert for outside plant engineering in a local serving exchange environment. You will design, plan, and support fiber infrastructure projects that drive network growth, system upgrades, and service reliability. Your expertise in cable sizing, counts, permitting, and right-of-way coordination will directly influence project success, regulatory compliance, and long-term network performance.
Working cross‑functionally with Network Planning, Central Office, Transmission, Operations, and other departments, you will help deliver scalable, future‑ready telecommunications infrastructure.
- Lead engineering design for outside plant and FTTH deployment projects.
- Perform cable sizing, cable count layout, and capacity planning.
- Proactively review outside plant facilities to identify necessary upgrades and enhancements.
- Maintain accurate cable records and system updates.
- Land base projects into FROGS/Spatial Engineer (AutoCAD-based GIS) systems.
- Apply for and manage permits with state, county, city, township, DNR, and federal entities.
- Maintain and investigate right-of-way and private easement documentation.
- Coordinate with utilities to support joint trench design and construction.
- Communicate with local and national agencies to identify projects impacting growth or infrastructure changes.
- Partner with Network Planning, Central Office, Transmission, and Operations teams to support plant growth and upgrades.
- Support Sales, Marketing, Operations, and Regulatory teams as needed.
- Participate in and lead project teams to meet timeline, cost, and performance objectives.
- Engage with regional managers, vendors, technicians, and engineering peers to ensure successful execution.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (preferred) or 3–5 years of related outside plant engineering experience in a local exchange environment
- Direct experience engineering Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) deployments
- Strong knowledge of outside plant design, cable count layout, and capacity planning
- Experience in outside plant construction, project management, and inventory management
- Experience managing right-of-way, private easements, and permitting with local, state, and federal agencies
- Proficiency in engineering tools including FROGS/Spatial Engineer (AutoCAD-based GIS), Adobe, Microsoft Word, Excel, and related software
- Demonstrated ability to lead and collaborate within cross‑functional project teams
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Extensive knowledge of telecommunications outside plant activities
- Experience supporting large‑scale infrastructure upgrades and network expansions
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a dynamic environment

Pay Details:$78.19 to $81.46 per hour
