The Automotive Training and Development Consultant is responsible for analyzing, developing, and delivering technical training programs related to automotive manufacturing processes and vehicle systems. This role provides on‑site training and technical support at OEM vehicle assembly plants while collaborating with engineering and manufacturing teams. The consultant will develop and deliver training related to vehicle assembly processes, electrical systems, and diagnostic procedures while supporting vehicle program launches.
The position requires strong expertise in automotive diagnostics and manufacturing systems, as well as the ability to translate engineering documentation into effective training materials. This role involves extensive travel and requires the ability to train plant personnel, conduct root cause analysis on vehicle assembly issues, and support cross‑functional collaboration between engineering, manufacturing, and launch teams.
- Provide on‑site training and technical support at OEM vehicle assembly plants.
- Instruct and consult plant process and repair personnel on vehicle systems and assembly processes.
- Demonstrate diagnostic techniques to identify and correct vehicle assembly or electrical system deficiencies.
- Conduct root cause analysis to determine causes of vehicle assembly issues.
- Develop training materials related to vehicle assembly processes, electrical harness manufacturing, and system architectures.
- Act as a training liaison between product engineering, manufacturing engineering, and plant operations.
- Share lessons learned and training materials across multiple plant locations.
- Identify future training needs and support ongoing workforce development initiatives.
- Participate in plant launch meetings and provide training reports to management and OEM teams.
- Collaborate with engineering teams and component suppliers to validate training materials prior to production launch.
- Research and compile engineering schematics, manufacturing documentation, and technical information for training materials.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in automotive training, instructional design, or manufacturing training.
- Experience delivering training related to vehicle systems, diagnostics, or manufacturing processes.
- Experience working with OEM manufacturing tracking and reporting systems.
- Experience delivering technical training to both small and large groups.
- Experience supporting manufacturing launches or automotive production environments.
- Automotive technical assistance center experience.
- Experience supporting OEM vehicle assembly plant launches.
- Experience working with automotive electrical harness systems.
- Experience supporting cross‑functional manufacturing teams and engineering groups.
- Automotive diagnostics and vehicle systems knowledge.
