As the Electrical and Control Engineering Manager, you will join a leader in industrial automation and control systems, dedicated to delivering innovative solutions and exceptional service to clients globally across various industries. You will lead and manage a multidisciplinary team of engineers, including Electrical Engineers and Controls Engineers, to deliver innovative, high-quality, and compliant electrical and control solutions. This leadership role involves ensuring seamless collaboration across teams, maintaining engineering standards, driving innovation, and delivering projects on time and within budget while adhering to industry standards and regulatory compliance.
ResponsibilitiesLead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of electrical and controls engineers.
Establish clear goals, performance metrics, and professional development plans for team members.
Conduct regular performance reviews and provide feedback to support individual and team growth.
Present and track all department metrics proactively and take leadership of staffing needs to ensure a team of high performers with sufficient capacity.
Oversee the execution of multiple engineering projects from inception to completion, ensuring adherence to scope, timeline, and budget.
Allocate resources effectively across projects to optimize team efficiency and output.
Resolve escalated design or technical challenges in collaboration with team members.
Ensure all designs, including control systems, electrical schematics, and control panels, meet client requirements, safety standards, and regulatory compliance (e.g., NEC, UL508a, UL67, UL891).
Review and approve project deliverables such as BOMs, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
Provide advanced troubleshooting guidance for control systems, including PLC and HMI programming, hardware selection, and system integration.
Develop, implement, and maintain engineering standards, including design guides, part libraries, and best practices.
Stay current with industry trends, available software, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies to foster innovation within the engineering department.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve product quality.
Foster strong collaboration between Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, and other cross-functional teams (e.g., manufacturing, sales, quality assurance).
Serve as a primary liaison with department heads and stakeholders to communicate departmental progress and address technical challenges.
Promote clear and consistent communication within the team to ensure alignment on objectives.
Ensure that all designs comply with relevant industry standards and safety regulations, including NEC, IEC, and UL.
Oversee quality control procedures and participate in design reviews to proactively address potential issues.
Conduct audits and inspections to guarantee that engineering outputs meet the highest standards of reliability and performance.
Provide training programs for the team on new tools, technologies, and industry standards.
Support knowledge-sharing initiatives within the team to build expertise and foster collaboration.
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
Minimum of 6+ years of experience in electrical and controls engineering, including at least 2+ years in a managerial role.
Proficiency in industry-standard CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN) and programming platforms (e.g., Studio 5000, Factory Talk, Eco Struxure, Ignition).
Deep understanding of electrical principles, power distribution, controls, and regulatory standards (e.g., NEC, UL508a).
Skills & Qualifications
Experience with electrical design and controls design is a plus.
MS or PhD related Engineering degree is preferred.
Must be a team player and willing to perform tasks that may not be in a particular job description, take initiative when appropriate, and open to constructive criticism.
