VP Engineering is seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join our growing MEP consulting team. This role is ideal for a licensed PE with a strong background in power and lighting design for commercial and multifamily buildings
, who enjoys technical leadership, collaboration, and delivering high-quality solutions to clients.
You’ll work closely with clients, fellow engineers, and designers while helping manage and guide project teams to successful delivery.
What You'll Do- Collaborate with the Project and Design Managers and project teams to maintain electrical design standards and quality control
- Lead and support designers to meet project milestones and schedules
- Develop and review electrical construction documents for accuracy, constructability, and code compliance
- Deliver design documents on time and in accordance with agreed-upon deadlines
- Ensure designs meet applicable codes, company standards, and client requirements
- Apply strong problem-solving skills to complex electrical design challenges
- Serve as a steward of VP Engineering’s core values:
integrity, honesty, respect, responsiveness, and professionalism
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) required
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited four-year institution
- 5+ years of experience designing electrical systems for industrial, commercial and/or multifamily buildings
- Strong knowledge of:
- Power distribution systems (208V three-phase, 240V single-phase, 480V three-phase)
- Lighting and power system design
- National Electrical Code (NEC)
- State and local building codes and technical standards
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical documents and professional publications
- Proven ability to guide teams and support project execution
