We’re supporting a leading commercial builder as they hire an MEP Superintendent to run the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing scopes on large, complex projects. This role is responsible for field execution across MEP—coordination, safety, quality, and schedule—ensuring systems are installed correctly and integrated cleanly with the architectural and structural build. The right person is comfortable leading subcontractors, solving coordination issues early, and keeping multiple work streams moving without drama.
Primaryduties
- Partner with preconstruction/design teams to review MEP scopes and confirm constructability
- Review drawings, specs, submittals and flag coordination or schedule risks early
- Support development and maintenance of MEP schedules and logistics plans
- Lead day-to-day MEP field execution: subcontractor activity, inspections, testing, and turnover readiness
- Enforce safety standards, quality expectations, and applicable codes across MEP scopes
- Work with the safety team to maintain a safe, well‑run jobsite
- Manage MEP subcontractors to ensure materials, manpower, and sequencing stay on track
- Monitor field productivity and labor planning with the project team
- Run weekly MEP coordination meetings with trade partners and field leadership
- Drive MEP coordination with BIM/VDC support where applicable
- Resolve field conflicts with designers and subcontractors and keep decisions moving
- Ensure MEP integration with architectural/structural components is planned and executed properly
- Maintain daily MEP reports/logs and communicate progress to the project team
- Track progress against the schedule and provide updates to the Project Manager
- Support RFIs, change management, punch, and closeout activities tied to MEP
- Degree in Construction Management/Engineering/Mechanical or Electrical Technology preferred (equivalent experience considered)
- 5+ years as an MEP Superintendent, or 15+ years in construction with 2–5 years leading MEP scopes
- Strong technical understanding of MEP systems in commercial construction
- Experience in healthcare, data centers, life sciences, or similarly complex work is a plus
- Strong ability to read and interpret MEP drawings, specifications, and submittals
- Clear communicator with solid leadership and conflict‑resolution skills
- Familiar with tools such as Procore, Bluebeam, and scheduling platforms (e.g., P6)
