Our client is a well-established engineering and commissioning partner supporting complex, high-performance buildings nationwide. They’re adding a senior-level Supervising Mechanical Engineer (PE) to lead mechanical design delivery and mentor a growing Dallas team. This is a hands-on, technical leadership role where you’ll serve as Engineer of Record on select projects, guide multi-discipline coordination, and stay closely involved throughout projects.
Responsibilities- Act as Engineer of Record for assigned projects, accountable for technical quality, code compliance, and design integrity
- Lead project execution from early concept through CDs, bidding, and construction administration
- Direct and develop a team of engineers/designers; delegate work, review deliverables, and coach performance
- Run coordination sessions with internal disciplines and external partners (architects, owners, contractors, vendors)
- Establish project-specific design criteria, standards, and documentation expectations
- Oversee mechanical system planning, load calculations, equipment selection, and distribution design for sophisticated facilities
- Produce and/or review detailed design documents and calculations; maintain strong involvement in Revit/CAD-based workflows
- Manage construction-phase support including site observations, field reports, RFI responses, bulletins/addenda, and submittal reviews
- Support budgeting and scheduling efforts; monitor progress against scope and timeline and help remove delivery roadblocks
- Assist with staff training and technical mentoring initiatives in partnership with engineering leadership
- Contribute to business development support such as scoping, proposal input, and change/add-service documentation
- Coordinate with finance/accounting on invoicing and project financial tracking, including AR follow-up when needed
- Maintain clear, professional communication across stakeholders and document key decisions and action items
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license (required)
- Demonstrated healthcare HVAC/mechanical design experience (required)
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited program
- 12+ years of mechanical consulting engineering experience within the MEP industry
- 3+ years of people leadership or project/team supervision experience
- Strong technical depth with HVAC system design, equipment selection, controls integration, and constructability considerations
- Proficiency with Revit and/or CAD and comfort working directly in production environments when needed
- Experience delivering complex project types such as critical environments, commercial buildings, aviation, or similarly demanding facilities (preferred)
- Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, manage competing priorities, and represent the firm confidently with clients
