Director - BESS Advisory

Job Location: Texas (Dallas / Austin / Houston)

Sun Stripe is an integrated technical advisory firm for RE + BESS assets, providing development strategy & engineering, technical due diligence, and power market operations services across US and UK markets. We work with utilities, developers, and infrastructure investors on utility-scale projects.

We are seeking a Director for our US BESS advisory practice. This is a commercial role requiring deep BESS technical knowledge and proven business development capability. You will manage client relationships, develop new business, and drive revenue growth across ERCOT, PJM, MISO, NYISO, and CAISO markets.

• Develop and manage client relationships with utilities, IPPs, developers, and infrastructure funds
• Identify and pursue new business opportunities for BESS advisory services including project sizing and siting, development engineering (FEED, conceptual design), interconnection support, technical due diligence, and revenue modeling
• Lead commercial discussions, proposals, and contract negotiations
• Collaborate with technical team to scope engagements and ensure successful delivery
• Represent Sun Stripe at industry conferences and client meetings
• Provide market intelligence on BESS development trends and competitive landscape

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical discipline
• 8+ years in BESS or energy storage sector with progression from technical to commercial roles
• Proven business development track record in consultancy, IPP, EPC, or utility environments
• Deep understanding of BESS project development: site selection, interconnection, revenue modeling, technology selection, and financing
• Working knowledge of US wholesale power markets (ERCOT, PJM, MISO, CAISO, NYISO)
• Established network within BESS developer, utility, fund, and EPC communities
• Experience managing client engagements valued at $1M+
• Strong communication skills with ability to translate technical concepts for commercial audiences
