Conveyance Practice Leader and Sr. Project Manager

Join Black & Veatch as a Conveyance Practice Leader and Senior Project Manager to lead water and wastewater projects and programs across Texas and the central region.

Opportunity

Lead major projects or programs from planning through construction, focusing on water supply intakes, pump stations, large‑diameter pipelines, tunnels, wastewater lift stations, force mains, and collections systems. You will present updates to external stakeholders, manage program schedules and budgets, oversee inter‑discipline teams, and support business development and marketing efforts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead major projects or programs from planning through construction, presenting client updates and supporting decision‑making.
  • Provide oversight of program schedule and budget using Black & Veatch’s internal processes and manage large inter‑discipline teams of internal and sub‑consultant resources.
  • Lead a team that provides technical solutions and differentiation focused on water supply intakes, pump stations, large‑diameter pipelines, tunnels, wastewater lift stations, force mains, and collections systems, including condition assessment and rehabilitation.
  • Recommend on client processes, organization, and readiness for major programs and alternative project delivery.
  • Support the team’s use of risk‑based assessments to develop and prioritize capital improvement programs.
  • Provide project execution, quality control, and technical leadership for large water and wastewater projects, identifying innovative solutions to maximize benefits to municipalities and utilities.
  • Lead and provide technical expertise to support marketing and business development.
  • Support pursuit, proposal, and project interview activities.
  • Work closely with Client Directors and the Area Director to develop relationships with clients and decision‑makers in Texas.
  • Help mentor professionals and grow the team by identifying high‑quality candidates and recruits.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Texas.
  • 20+ years of relevant water engineering experience, including water and wastewater infrastructure planning, asset management, CIP optimization, detailed design, and construction.
  • Experience managing large water and wastewater programs and projects.
  • Knowledge of local, federal, and state permitting requirements and funding mechanisms.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, comfortable in client‑facing roles.
  • Experience providing input and oversight of technical tasks and project teams performing studies and assessments of water and wastewater projects.
  • Proficiency with report writing and PowerPoint presentations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to work independently and within a team.
  • Willing and able to travel to project sites and client meetings as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

Work Environment/Physical Demands
  • Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days based on manager discretion, job performance, and work assignments.
  • Typical office environment; also construction sites with extreme weather, high noise, safety hazards (electric currents, scaffolding, high places, chemicals), and atmospheric conditions (fumes, odors, dust, gases, poor ventilation). Tasks include sitting, walking, talking, reading, writing, keyboarding, driving, filing, reaching, stooping, crouching, bending, standing, lifting or carrying up to 40 pounds.
