Apollo Technical has an Immediate need for a Lead Electrical Engineer in the DFW area.
Role OverviewThe Lead Electrical Engineer HV position offers a strategic leadership role focused on high-voltage substation design and project delivery within the U.S. operations. The role emphasizes technical oversight, client engagement, and team development with a clear path to Engineering Manager within 24 months.

Technical responsibilities:
The engineer will lead design, specification, and coordination of HV substations ensuring compliance with U.S. utility, client, and regulatory standards, and act as the main technical interface for clients and utilities.
Strategic and operational collaboration:
Support business development and early contractor involvement, collaborate with global engineering centers to adapt designs for the U.S. market, and contribute to resource planning and continuous improvement culture.
We are seeking a strategically minded and technically accomplished Lead Electrical Engineer to support the organic growth of our U.S. operations, with a specific focus across Texas. This role is ideal for a technically strong HV engineer ready to step into a broader leadership remit, with a clear pathway to becoming Engineering Manager for the U.S. region within the next 24 months.
You will play a key role in technical oversight, client engagement, early stage project development, and delivery alignment, acting as the bridge linking Engineering with Estimating, procurement and Project Execution. While the position does not carry direct reports initially, you will be responsible for shaping the local engineering function and mentoring junior engineers as the team expands.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the design, specification, and coordination of HV substations for projects in Texas.
- Ensure all engineering deliverables meet utility, client and regulatory requirements (NESC, NEC, IEEE, NFPA 70E, ERCOT Standards etc.).
- Act as the primary technical interface with U.S based clients, consultants, and utilities during both pre-construction and delivery phases.
- Provide technical governance and peer review of design outputs to ensure compliance with U.S codes, standards, and client-specific requirements.
- Support Business Development and Pre Construction teams in the Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) model - including preliminary feasibility, and technical scoping.
- Capture and share project learnings and regulatory insights to help inform the broader U.S market strategy.
- Participate in engineering resource planning, with a view to building and leading a U.S engineering team over the coming years.
- Drive a culture of accountability, technical rigor, and continuous improvement.
- Grow, manage and lead a team of engineers in the design and construction of HV substations.
- Maintain continuous professional development (CPD) within the engineering team.
- Enhance project delivery by fostering excellence in engineering practices.
- Facilitate effective communication among Project Managers and Site Managers to incorporate real-time feedback into project designs.
- Empower project engineers, reinforcing their responsibility for the engineering outputs of their projects.
- Contribute to the lessons learned log, ensuring it is regularly updated to enhance project outcomes.
Report directly to the CTO. Provide monthly project updates and participate in quarterly review meetings with the executive team to discuss resource planning, project risks, and strategic opportunities. Pathway to Engineering manager role within 24 months.
Qualifications & Experience- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems preferred).
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Texas (or eligible for reciprocity).
- 5+ years' experience in electrical engineering within utility-scale or high-voltage EPC environments.
- Proven experience managing multi-disciplinary engineering teams and external consultants an advantage.
- Strong working knowledge of U.S. transmission/distribution infrastructure and regional standards (e.g. ERCOT interconnection process).
- Experience delivering turnkey substations, HV grid projects (138 kV-345 kV), and associated control/protection systems.
- Eligibility to work in the U.S. is required.
