A growing engineering firm is seeking an Instrumentation Field Technician to support automation and control projects across a variety of client sites. This is a hands‑on, field‑based position critical to successful project delivery and client satisfaction. You will be the technical face of the project, responsible for the startup, calibration, and troubleshooting of a wide range of instrumentation and control systems.
Key Responsibilities- Instrumentation Setup & Calibration: Work with flow, pressure, temperature, position, vibration, and current transmitters, as well as analyzers pH, chlorine, turbidity, conductivity, fluoride, and more.
- Electrical & PLC Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve issues related to 480
VAC motor control systems, PLC equipment, and relay logic. - System Modifications: Perform mechanical and electrical modifications to equipment in the field as required.
- Drawings & Documentation: Interpret and update Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), Control Loop, and Control Panel drawings to reflect as‑built conditions.
- Networking & Computer Systems: Install and commission networking and computer equipment used in control systems.
- Client Interaction & Administration: Maintain a professional presence at client sites, complete required documentation, and ensure communication is clear and consistent.
- Technical associate degree or equivalent vocational training preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years experience with instrumentation calibration and troubleshooting, PLC and motor control systems, reading P&IDs and system wiring diagrams, field equipment modifications (mechanical and electrical), networking and computer system setups.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Access).
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally to client sites.
- Ability to work in physically demanding environments (heights, confined spaces, temperature extremes, industrial hazards).
