Senior Highway Engineer – Ardurra
Locations:
Miami, Orlando, Tampa, Tallahassee, or West Palm Beach, Florida (relocation assistance available).
The successful candidate will work on a variety of transportation‑related design projects, developing contract plans, specifications, and estimates for construction. They will supervise and lead engineering design tasks, including roadway geometric design, production of plans, and writing of technical reports and documents. The role requires expert judgment and analysis for the design, development, and implementation of technical products and systems, resolving highly complex technical matters and recommending enhancements to improve product quality and procedures.
PrimaryDuties
- Perform process design of multi‑discipline transportation engineering projects, evaluating alternatives, conducting engineering studies and design calculations, and completing preliminary and detailed design.
- Provide technical expertise to ensure compliance with design intent, project scope, and state and federal design criteria and standards.
- Develop contract plans and prepare technical specifications and cost estimates.
- Assist with project execution and delivery, including development of project scope, budget, and schedule.
- Oversee the day‑to‑day activities and coordination of engineers, designers, and technicians assigned to a specific project.
- Perform quality control on engineering work products, including design calculations, models, drawings, reports, specifications, and estimates.
- Assist with marketing and business development efforts.
- Effectively communicate and coordinate with internal and external partners and stakeholders, including clients, discipline leads, sub‑consultants, regulatory agencies, and utility companies.
- A Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET‑accredited university or college.
- 10+ years of post‑licensure engineering experience in transportation design.
- Proficient in Microstation and Open Roads Designer with the ability to train and supervise the technical work of engineers, designers, and technicians.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).
- Experience preparing final design plans, specifications, and estimates.
- Strong verbal communication and technical writing skills.
- Strong analytical problem‑solving, time‑management, and organizational skills.
