Huitt-Zollars has a great full-time opportunity for a Structural Engineer (Bridge) PE at our Dallas office
. This position may also be located in Dallas or Austin, TX. This full-time structural position is within our transportation group and also provides the opportunity to support other disciplines on an as needed basis. HZ's portfolio includes prestressed, post-tensioned and conventionally reinforced concrete structures as well as steel structures.

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE)
Duties:
- Technical and managerial responsibilities are dependent on experience level
- Apply prescribed methods and procedures in accordance with established criteria
- Prepare calculations in accordance with applicable design codes by following standard engineering practices and procedures within established guidelines
- Prepare detailed designs, plans and specifications for bridges and other transportation structures
- Manage all project aspects including scope of work development, fee development, and subconsultant management
- Assist business development and project pursuits
- Interact and collaborate with clients, owners and other highway disciplines
- Mentor and develop junior engineers
- Implement Huitt-Zollars' Quality Management Plans for project deliverables
Key Responsibilities:
- Productively collaborates with PMs and other project TMs and leads or encourages task teams to achieve success and camaraderie amongst each other.
- Understands and follows HZ QMS and Quality initiatives. Ensures quality control measures are being adhered to on assigned project tasks and daily operations.
- Understands duties and responsibilities, possesses necessary job knowledge and technical skills, maintains job knowledge current.
- Assist with appropriate administrative and project support tasks supporting the needs of the PM on assigned project tasks.
- Complete project task assignments on-time, within budget, and with highest level of quality.
- Routinely proposes and produces more effective ways to accomplish assigned tasks.
- Effectively leads, creates, plans, executes project tasks on a project.
- Sharing Information: Conveying up-to date information in the most efficient and useful manner to the appropriate stakeholders.
- Critical Thinking: Analyzing problems and solutions by evaluating the quality of the information available from different sources and avoiding decision-making bias.
- Executes Strategy: Ensuring that people remain focused on accomplishing strategic goals by thoughtfully planning tasks and overcoming obstacles.
- Fosters a Learning Culture: Creating an inspiring and engaging atmosphere where people feel motivated to grow, experiment, and learn new skills.
- Identifies Talent: Actively maintaining awareness of internal and external talent, current abilities, and hiring needs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE), Master's of Science Degree in Civil Engineering (MSCE) is a plus
- Licensed Professional Engineer in State of Texas
- Ability to obtain license in other states
- Proficient with TxDOT design practice and guidelines highly preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and Power Point
- Experience with relevant technology/software such as Micro Station, Open Roads, RISA, STADD
- Passionate about transportation and major highway design projects
- Ability to work / lead in a team environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
