- Lead structural design engineering and analysis on substation scopes.
- Collect and assimilate data for engineering work, perform research, and prepare calculations in accordance with Black & Veatch and industry standards.
- Develop recommendations for equipment and materials; understand and work within budget, project schedule, and quality requirements.
- May assist with guidance to engineering team members, maintain positive client relations, and support business development activities.
- Function as a technical specialist and/or in a lead role with minimal supervision, applying advanced engineering techniques and analyses; expand knowledge across disciplines.

Key Responsibilities- Execute structural analysis, perform calculations, and prepare sketches and drawings for substation equipment and energy infrastructure.
- Lead the structural efforts on Engineering Services and EPC substation projects.
- Generate project-specific specifications and assist with procurement.
- Supervise structural engineers and technicians in preparing drawings and specifications, leading production teams.
- Perform construction phase engineering duties including site visits, RFI responses, and contractor submittal reviews.
- Handle project management tasks: design fee estimates, budget/schedule monitoring, change management, and quality control.
- Coordinate with other discipline engineers.
- Provide guidance on department design guides, standards, codes, and B&V policies; assist in updating engineering standards.
- Manage resources for a small group.
- Active PE License.
- Intermediate knowledge of structural engineering design principles and applicable design guides and standards.
- Basic structural steel and concrete experience using 3D analysis and design software such as RISA 3D, STAAD Pro, or equivalent.
- Basic foundation design experience with LPile, RISA Foundation, or SP-Mats.
- Experience performing structural connection and miscellaneous calculations using MS Excel and/or Mathcad.
- Strong written communication, priority setting, planning, delegation, directing others, conflict management, listening, and team building.
- Experience with utility‑scale electrical substations, renewables, or similar fields is a plus.
- Structural design of electrical substation steel structures and foundations.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited program.
- Minimum of 5 years related work experience.
- Ability to complete required pre‑employment onboarding (background checks, drug screening, etc.).
Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days of employment based on manager discretion.
